Our Top 6 Classic Motorbikes to Track Down

If you’re a motorbike collector or simply sentimental, you’ll know part of the appeal of having classic motorbikes parked in your garage is nostalgia. Judging by market sales and motorbike importing, there is no denying the popularity of classic motorcycles. While being on trend with the latest motorbikes is cool, there’s something more to appreciate about the rich lineage of retro motorbikes. Like a fine wine, the look of a classic motorbike gets better with age.

If you’re a sucker for killer-styled and iconic motorbikes, you’re in for a treat. In this article, we run through our top six classic motorcycles around the globe.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled

Italian motorcycle company Ducati introduced the Ducati Scrambler series in 2014, as a revival of the popular Scrambler singles of the 1960s. The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is an L-twin model for off-road lovers. The Desert Sled is one of the latest models fitted with LED lights, cornering ABS, and other detail improvements. An excellent blend of old and new, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is a classic style motorbike that offers modern features so you can get the smoothest and most wonderful ride.

BMW R nineT Pure

German manufacturer BMW also launched the R nineT, a homage to the company’s historic boxers, marking its 90th anniversary. Designed as a limited edition, BMW decided to make it a mainstream production model due to its unexpected popularity among customers—and for good reasons! The R nineT is a practical yet unique motorbike with retro styling featuring an alloy tank, wire wheels, and twin dials alongside the classic BMW badge. It also features a modern chassis and dynamics for supreme ride comfort.

Triumph Thruxton RS

Inspired by fanatical teenage café racers, the Triumph Thruxton RS is a showstopper on the road. It’s a classic sporty bike that is stylish and excellently designed. It boasts a 1200cc liquid-cooled upright parallel-twin making 103 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque. It also features the Metzeler Racetec RR tires that offer excellent grip.

Kawasaki W800

Japanese giant, Kawasaki first produced W650, an air-cooled, bevel-drive twin with authentic detailing and a 49bhp performance. The company then released the bigger W80 in 2007 with improved performance and build quality, making it deserve a place on our list of retro motorbikes to check out.

Suzuki Katana

The Suzuki Katana is a 1982 model inspired by the company’s original Katana superbike (designed by German Hans Muth). The look of the Katana is so well-known that many still celebrate it at events. It has sport bike features with a 999cc incline-four that makes 147 hp at 10,000 rpm and 79.7 lb-ft of torque at 9500. You can’t go wrong with this one when it comes to performance and efficiency.

Honda Super Cub 125

The Honda Super Cub 125 easily made people fall in love with its stylish bodywork and nifty handlebars. It features an electronically fuel-injected 125 with a four-speed automatic with no need for a clutch. Other modern features include LED lighting, keyless Smart Key ignition and tubeless tires. While underpowered to run on the freeway, you can get around any surface street and turn heads while you’re at it.
