When one thinks about luxurious cars, it is often their exterior appearance, technical specifications and speed that come to mind. It may be fitted with fine leather and upholstery inside, but it is usually about as far as it goes. There are some exceptions though, high-end cars with opulent interiors that look even more comfortable than a home.
Land Rover’s 2016 SVAutobiography
If you have NZ $120,000 to spend then the Land Rover’s 2016 SVAutobiography is for you. Fitted with 29 speakers for high-quality surround sound, it looks after passengers in the rear seats as well as at the front.
To soothe their weary bodies, they can recline their seats and put their feet up on a foot rest. Not enough? Well, then, switch the massage function on!
It also comes equipped with a folding table and sockets to plug in pretty much everything that comes under the sun. And of course, a luxury interior wouldn’t be complete without a bottle chiller for your champagne.
BMW 740i
The BMW 740i will set you back by NZ $107,000 minimum.
Like with the Land Rover SVAutobiography, the rear passenger seats recline and offer a foot rest as well as massages, and for the ultimate comfort, heating and cooling. If you get bored en route to some glitzy event, you can watch a show on your individual touch screen.
The car can also set the mood by diffusing one of the eight different fragrances available. Heck, why stop at one, you can even choose two at a time!
Bentley’s Flying Spur
The carmaker’s luxury sedan starts at NZ $270,000 – without customisation. You can have, well, pretty much what you want. If you choose to have a bottle cooler, Bentley will even give you champagne flutes – at NZ $270,000+, it’s only fair!
Mercedes-Maybach’s S-Class Pullman
For about NZ $780,000, you can get the S-Class Pullman which comes with plenty of leg room.
The back is equipped with four seats facing each other in pairs, giving it the feel of a limousine. You will, of course, find a console for your champagne and flutes, and if you feel dizzy from so much glamour, the seats recline – the car even has pillows.
The Mercedes is also fitted with 300 LED bulbs to provide mood lighting with seven colours to choose from.
Bentley Bentayga
The Bentley Bentayga is one of those vehicles that might actually be more comfortable than your own home! It is fitted with precious wood and handmade leather for a feeling of understated elegance, but it isn’t all about looks. Driving can be hard on the body, but it no longer is a problem since the front seats can actually give you a massage!
If you choose the Mulliner Hamper Set, you will get a refrigerator, fine china, and a storage area for food. Everything you need for a romantic picnic or a very civilised drive.
Rolls-Royce’s Serenity
Step into this car and forget the outside world. The seats are covered with silk with hand-painted floral motives reminiscent of a Japanese garden that create an oasis of tranquillity. Tree branches and blossoms on the inside doors, also painted by hand, continue the theme for a unique look.
The silk was woven and dyed by hand and, according to the luxury car maker, it took about 600 hours of work to complete each silk panel.
2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo
In a slightly more affordable price range – NZ $40,000 for the interior only – the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo’s interior is as luxurious as it gets for an ‘everyday’ car. It has sporty front seats, and the steering wheel, gear shift, brake handle and car seats are all covered with leather.
And if you like your music, you won’t be disappointed as the Beetle is equipped with a Fender audio system, nine speakers and a subwoofer. The car also has Bluetooth capability, Wi-Fi and USB ports.
2012 Hyundai Azera
In most cars, priority is given to the driver’s comfort while rear passengers just have to go along with whatever temperature and music volume the front occupants set. But not with the Azera.
For NZ $43,000, you can enjoy the best of modern technology in a car. All seats are equipped with heating and cooling systems, and dual climate control allows passengers at the back to set their own temperature. They also benefit from their own sunshade for sunny days which is operated with the push of a button.
The Hyundai also features a 450-watt audio system with external amplifier, an HD radio, a subwoofer, a touchscreen display and a satellite radio.
2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury Series
NZ $53,000 will buy you a refined interior clad with Italian leather and hand-sanded wood. It also comes with extended connectivity, featuring a Uconnect phone that enables you to connect not one, not two, but up to seven smartphones via Bluetooth! You will also be able to connect to the internet via 3G, taking advantage of the car’s own Wi-Fi Hotspot.
The Chrysler is also equipped with an 8.4-inch touchscreen Garmin GPS.
2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Coupé
With a price tag of NZ $60,000, the interior of this 4WD is everything you could dream of.
Covered with almond-espresso grained leather all over, including the seats, the dashboard and the door panels, this car’s look is complemented by luxurious carpets. Feeling something is missing? You can also request satin brushed aluminium for the metal parts.
The Coupé also comes with climate control, 380W of music produced by a state-of-the-art sound system and delivered by eleven speakers as well as electronically adjustable front seats.
2012 Audi A7
Audi is well known for producing comfortable and elegant cars, and the A7 lives up to that reputation with its stylish LED xexon and headlights. The car is also equipped with 640W BOSE sound system, fourteen speakers and climate control system.
